International Day of Radiology

Prodie Santé is delighted to join the celebration of the tenth International Day of Radiology (IDoR 2021) a joint initiative from the European Society of Radiology (ESR), the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), and the American College of Radiology (ACR). This event coincides with the anniversary of the discovery of x-rays. Every year is dedicated to a different theme focussing on various specialities and sub-specialities. This year the focus is on ‘Interventional Radiology – Active care for the patient’ and involves a range of imaging procedures (computed tomography, scans, X-rays, MRIs and ultrasounds) their interpretation and the planning of eventual medical responses including surgery procedures.

Numerous conditions can be treated by interventional radiologists (IR) like blood vessel diseases (aneurysm, haemorrhage etc), dilated or blocked veins, blood cloths. In oncology they can help treating tumours. IR’s can also place feeding tubes, drain fluid or pus in the chest and remove kidney stones etc.
